About us The Environmental Organic Synthesis Group (SOA-Síntese Orgânica Ambiental) originated in the Institute of Chemistry of Federal University of Rio de Janeiro in 1996. We fit in a philosophy called Green Chemistry as a strategy for sustainable development, with the goal of studying classical reactions of organic chemistry or develop methodologies for compounds with immediate, medium or long term applications conditions that are less harmful to the environment. The SOA is derived from the KPG research group, coordinated by Professor W. Bruce kover. So we have the honor, satisfaction and happiness of being a descendant of scientific researcher most important in the history of graduate education in Brazil. Prof. Kover was a founder of the Graduate Chemistry Organic in Chemistry Institute of UFRJ, which led to several others in the country. We follow the slogan: "My raw materials are the students. We have a permanent staff of two professors by the Institute of Chemistry, UFRJ, with their master's degrees and doctorates in the program graduate of Organic Chemistry of this institution. We chose a job that we believe when we decided to work in the field of Green Chemistry. We are open to interactions with companies and industries. We believe we can serve our society to revert to our knowledge to the industrial section, which would generate technology, jobs and sense of nation. In our studies we have many students. We encourage free and critical thinking, teamwork done with responsibility, professionalism and happiness.
